Dual Therapeutic Respite™ programming
Take a Break
Presented by Hope Grows in partnership with Moon Township Community Engagement
July 13, 20, 27 and August 3, 2019 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Robin Hill Park | 949 Thorn Hill Run Road, Moon Township PA 15108
Family caregivers are invited to enjoy a short break while having their care recipient participate with the Take a Break program. Nature-based educational and Therapeutic Respite™ activities are in the beautiful surroundings of Robin Hill Park. Traditional gardening activities are adapted to meet the needs of care recipients with physical, mental, and/or intellectual disabilities. Past themes or activities have included plant propagation, crafting with plants, and seasonal scavenger hunts, among others. An inter-generational and cross-disability/disease program, care recipient participants will be matched with a volunteer who guides and supports them through a seasonal nature-based program while their CAREGIVER engages in a different activity each week. Previously programs have included therapeutic drumming, yoga, writing, horticulture, and essential oils. Caregivers will also spend part of each session in a peer support group led by a trained facilitator. This program is for ages 5-99, no limit on abilities. For more information, visit hopegrows.net or call 412.369.4673. Take a Break in the Dirt is a part of the Hope Grows Therapeutic Respite™ programming and is free for all participants.
