Family caregivers are invited to enjoy a short break while having their care recipient participate with the Take a Break in the Dirt program. Nature-based educational and therapeutic respite activities in the beautiful surroundings of Robin Hill Park. Our program facilitated seasonal, volunteer-run, adaptive gardening program that once engaged children with disabilities ages 5-18 in gardening and nature related activities while their family or caregiver takes a well-earned break is changing to accommodate many other care recipients and families! Participants will still be matched with a volunteer who guides and supports them and all will learn about garden tooling, watering, composition, plant propagation, and garden grooming while enjoying the restorative benefits of just being in and interacting with nature! This program is for ages 5-99, no limit on abilities and is a continuation from the “Time Out In Nature for Caregivers and Care Recipients.”
