Family caregivers are invited to enjoy a short break while having their care recipient participate with the Take a Break in the Dirt program. Nature-based educational and therapeutic respite activities are in the beautiful surroundings of Robin Hill Park. Our facilitated seasonal, volunteer-run, adaptive gardening program that once engaged children with disabilities ages 5-18 in gardening and nature related activities while their family or caregiver took a well-earned break is changing to accommodate many other care recipients and families!
An inter-generational and cross-disability/disease, care recipient participants will still be matched with a volunteer who guides and supports them through seasonal nature-based program while their CAREGIVER engages in a different activity each week that includes drumming, yoga, writing and/or art, and horticulture and/or essential oils. This program is for ages 5-99, no limit on abilities. For more information, visit hopegrows.net or call 412.369.4673.
Take a Break in the Dirt is a part of the Hope Grows Therapeutic Respite™ programming and is free for all participants.
